If you need to lose fifty to one hundred pounds or even more, there is a way to do it within the next year. Many people who are so overweight believe that it is a lost cause and useless to even try. That is simply not; you can lose a tremendous amount of weight and improve your health, appearance and self esteem. If you change a few things that you can get used to doing every day you will be able to keep the weight off for the rest of your life. You deserve to live your life at a comfortable weight, be able to wear clothes that you like, and enjoy every day more because of how you look and feel.
There are two major ways to lose weight. You must either eat less, exercise more, or do both. But just telling this to someone who needs to lose fifty pounds or more does not have much meaning or impact. Every diet begins with a change of thinking. When you are willing to think differently about your weight you will see major changes occur in a relatively short period of time.
- Begin by visiting your regular doctor. Make sure that you tell him or her that you will be beginning a diet. Get your blood pressure checked and find out if you have any problems with your blood sugar. Also, find out exactly how much you weight at the beginning of your diet.
- Next, begin walking for as long as you can each day. Depending on your age and current weight you may only be able to walk for about ten minutes. You should be able to hold a conversation while you are walking or else you are walking too fast. Increase the amount of time you walk by a few minutes each day. Walk twice each day if that is possible.
- Go through your kitchen cabinets and refrigerator and discard any foods that have been a problem for you in the past. Throw away or give away foods that you will be eliminating in your diet.
- Go to the grocery store and purchase some fresh fruits and vegetables. Start with ones that you already enjoy eating to prepare yourself to eat more and different fruits and vegetables later on.
You will begin to lose weight within the first week. Drink water instead of any bottled juices or carbonated beverages. After three or four days you will not be as hungry as you were in the very beginning.
