3 Ways to Get Personal Training Results Without the Personal Trainer

Personal trainers can provide you with advantages that you simply cannot have when you workout alone. That being said though, you can reap the same advantages by going in other directions that may be less costly and potentially more fun!

First off, Personal trainers are great at holding you accountable to your game plan and also to push and motivate you during a workout. I personally have some clients who have stayed with me just because I expect them to show up and I hold them accountable.

You can achieve the same benefit by having a good friend or buddy to workout with. A fiend who is looking to accomplish the same goals can help you keep your nose to the grind stone, plus they benefit by having you hold them accountable. As they say, two heads are better than one.

Personal trainers are also great at keeping tabs on what you are doing and what your next steps are. Knowing what to do next in your game plan is simply a must if you hope to achieve anything in fitness. However, most people simply go through the motions with their workouts believing that as long as they work hard and do the exercises then they will achieve their goals. Nothing could be further from the truth. Progress only happens when your workout itself has progression. So keep notes on what you are doing and how you are doing it. Then try and improve your performance each time you workout in some way. Simply writing down that you want to run .02 miles faster in your next workout can be the difference between going where you want to go and going no where.

Lastly it helps if there is some sort of a financial commitment. Believe it or not, personal training works for some people simply because money is on the table. It’s a funny thing, but once your hard earned cash is on the line, you might find yourself working harder and able to do things you wouldn’t have done if the service was free. I don’t advocate that you pay your workout buddy for each workout. Remember, we are trying to save money here not spend it. So I suggest you only pay your buddy when you slip up. So each time you skip a workout or fall off the healthy eating wagon you pay a penalty of some sort. This way money can still motivate you, but you can still possibly get off Scott free.

Well my fiend there you have it. 3 ways you can alter your fitness lifestyle to gain the benefits of having a personal trainer without having to shell out the money for one.
