The Cambridge Diet was created by by Dr Alan Howard in the 60’s/70’s in Cambridge, UK as a low calorie weight lose plan and to keep you healthy. Used primarily in weight lose clinics in the US during the 1980’s it took off in 1984 selling big time in the UK. It is claimed that over 16 million people have benefited from using this weight lose plan world-wide.
Is this the right diet for you?
With so many in the market place and so easy to be persuaded by friends and family as to what works best. As with any plan you have to feel comfortable with the procedures, requirements and limitations of any plan you undertake. Although on first site this plan has helped so many and been around for so long over 30 years it must have been successful to keep going for so long.
How does it work?
Anyone on the weight lose plan has to cut back dramatically on their calorie intake. From say 415 calories per day to 1550 calories depending how much weight lose they hope to achieve. This is a rough guide as other factors have to be considered, your health and the practicalities of extreme weight lose. Generally speaking it is a crash course what works on the limitation of calories intake through as the company puts it ” Excellent weight lose through starvation”
The Cambridge Company provide you with pre-set meals as part of the food plan to be taken on a daily basis. The first route will create faster weight lose but if that is not required then a second route is offered. Whereby a combination of pre-packed meals are provided to be taken with other normal meals for a slower weight reduction.
The pre-packed meals provided with the plan include:- soups, shakes, nutrition bars with a well balanced combination of vitamins and minerals and other nutrients needed for a healthy life. All of these the makers claims inhibit the desire for food suppressing the pangs of hunger.
Like any diet you should take the positives and eliminate the negatives . Work out what you want from your diet. These are the questions you should be asking yourself.
1) How much do you weight do you want to lose?
2) Over what time period do you want to lose it?
3) Do you want an extreme weight lose diet or do you want to combine it with regular meals?
4) Do you want to lose a small amount for a special occasion like a wedding or a date?
5) If you are very overweight is this the program for me?
