In today’s world, achieving goals is everything! Each day there is one more goal, target to achieve. It means we are expending that much of our selves. It means that the body is under duress and the whole system is always on red alert. As the adage goes, it is the survival of the fittest. So, to achieve these goals one needs sustaining power. One needs the will power and the physical strength to survive the emotional drain. To be a survivor one needs stamina. Merely eating the right proportions of food and exercising does not give one the stamina. Stamina needs to be built. Only a professional can prescribe the correct techniques to building ones stamina. A personal trainer is such an expert who can customize a health routine to build one’s stamina.
The trainer draws up the schedule for us as the first step. Whether you want to gain stamina by increasing the build or body muscle and gain energy? Or gain strength and endurance? Either choice will mean different set of exercises and routines. Building muscle would mean pumping more iron routine while endurance would mean doing more of running etc.
In the second step the trainer sets small achievable targets. If you have not been exercising regularly then to start off with a full-fledged exercise routine is more harmful to the body. So, the regime will begin with short warm-up exercise for over two to three hours spread over five days.
Step three would be the actual routine. Here the personal trainer wants to lay the foundation for the following weeks. Usually walking or using the treadmill is introduced at this stage. This is because walking increases the efficiency of the heart and lungs, pumps the energy levels, tones the leg muscles and helps in getting a good night’s sleep.
Step four is to build on the energy levels. The stepper is introduced at this stage to build the calf muscles and build more energy.
Step five would be to introduce a slightly more rigorous routine – bicycling on the epilator or exercising cycles. This will again depend on how comfortable you are with cycling. If the knees and joints show progressive pain or sores please do discuss with the trainer and revise the routine to walking. This again comes with the rider that if you are uncomfortable with this form do discuss with the personal trainer
Step six starts the next level of the routine – lifting weights. Especially if your job or profession desires that you use the upper part of your body extensively, it needs to have the extra muscle or build to sustain prolonged use.
Step seven begins the stage of endurance building. Performing all the activities, one can see that mentally and physically it becomes easier with each passing day. This is the most important part of stamina building.
Step eight the personal trainer plans long distance walking or running for more than a mile in comparison to the previous week. All the activities will now be stepped up so that you push yourself to beyond your capacity. Stay focused. Perform the routines sincerely. The results will soon begin to show.
The trainer follows a scientific method to make you build stamina. He teaches you the proper execution of a technique even if it is the simple things like correct posture while walking or lifting weights. These are the nitty-gritty of exercising which will help us to maintain ourselves even after the sessions with the trainer end. Such a structured routine helps us to achieve our goals easily and further there is no loss of time and energy.
Lifestyles we follow today are prone to several related problems – high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol etc. Stamina is essential to facing the realities of life. A personal trainer is the best in the business to help us to build our stamina.
