What? Fruits and Veggies today have fewer vitamins? I’m afraid it’s been proven true!
Research published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, has found that the fruits and vegetables grown today have much lower nutritional values than the fruits and veggies grown back in the 50’s.
Dr. Donald R. Davis from the University of Texas was appalled by the nutritional depeltion his research team found in fruits and veggies.
Modern vegetables, grown on large agribusiness farms, have dropped dramatically in levels of calcium, vitamin C, iron, protein and a whopping 38% less riboflavin (B2).
Now, how did that happen to our fruits and veggies?
Today’s farming methods use synthetic fertilizers to increase plant yield per acre. And this allows the agribusiness to make more money. But we get less nutrition.
Modern hybrid varieties of veggies just can’t synthesize and absorb enough vitamins, minerals, amino acids. So we lose out.
Studies show that most people today aren’t even getting their minimum RDAs (Recommended Daily Allowance) of nutrition from the food they eat.
And the RDAs are just the bare minimum necessary to prevent things like scurvy and beriberi. They’re not anywhere close to the optimum levels needed for protection against degenerative diseases.
Who says veggies are so darned important?
Momma kept telling us, “eat your vegetables!” And now “Uncle Sam” is telling us the same thing. Why? Because research shows Momma was right.
As a matter of fact, every single U.S. public health agency agrees with her. They’re all telling us we need to eat at least five to nine servings of colorful, antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables every single day.
Otherwise, we’re setting ourselves up for a dark and dreary future from heart disease, stroke and cancer. And unlike Momma, Uncle Sam has extensive scientific documentation to back up the warning.
What does fruit and vegetable research prove?
There’s a whole host of beneficial vitamins, minerals and antioxidants called phytonutrients in fruits and vegetables. And numerous studies over the past 20 years show that people who eat a diet high in plant food get major positive results.
To begin with, the antioxidants from fresh fruits and a nutritious list of vegetables boosts your immune system and protects you against everything from the common cold to heart disease, cancer and the next deadly pandemic.
They do this by neutralizing free radicals that damage cells and cause faster aging. This dramatically slows down the aging process of your body.
And besides the 37% lower risk of cancer and heart disease, plant vitamin, mineral and phytonutrients help your vision, teeth, bones, urinary tract and memory.
