Is Starting a Personal Training Business Right for You?

So you are considering starting a personal training business; that’s great! I am going to help you not only become a great trainer, but I will also show you how to fast track your career and success.

Is the fitness industry really for you? What is the point of creating a business if it is not successful?!?!

Bad businesses own their owners, not the other way around. You will be a slave to your accountant, your clients, your landlord, and things will keep piling up and you will never “get ahead”.

We are going to show you how to create an awesome fitness career, not a gym job that you have to “escape from” by going on vacation. Don’t get me wrong, vacation and adventure are a big part of my life, I just don’t keep it separate from my normal everyday lifestyle. Not that every day is a picnic, but your business is there to serve others and also to serve you and your lifestyle.

So no more feeling bummed on Sunday nights! No more dreading going back to work after a nice vacation. We will show you how to plan for the future and accelerate your fitness career while avoiding too much risk in the beginning and the most common personal training business mistakes.

So how do you know if personal training is the right job for you, so you can move forward with starting your personal training business? Here are some key questions to ask yourself. Be brutally truthful when grading yourself on a scale from 1-10:

1- Are you passionate about your own workouts and exercise?
2- Do you love working closely with people?
3- Do you have a great personality (positive outlook, high energy, honest, and caring)?
4- Do you enjoy learning about exercise science and the human body?
5- Are you committed to your own health, fitness, and success?
6- Has exercise changed your life in a major, positive way?

Give yourself a score from 1-10 on each of the 6 questions. Total it up! A score of at least 50 is a good indicator that you should start pursuing your fitness career immediately. Jump right in! If you got less than that, you will want to proceed a little more slowly, maybe working part time in the beginning. Don’t worry, we have tools and advice for you whether you already have a business, are working full time at a gym, or are just getting started out and want to know everything!
